Adventure 2006
Part 2
Indiana to Wyoming

This map outlines the entire drive from Indiana to California, but our first destination was Wyoming to visit Mel's many cousins and attend a special surprise Golden Anniversary party for Ray and Idonna in Cheyenne.  The following pictures between Indiana and Wyoming depict the beautiful scenery this fall season.

You can tell we're in Wyoming. Many trains pulling 100 cars loaded with coal constantly on the go.

These beautiful hills are visible from one of the McGuire ranches
near Wheatland.

The Cooney Hills Ranch McGuire's weren't home. We learned that they were on a paddle boat trip on the Columbia River.

During our stay in Wheatland we had electrical hookup, water and a dump station at the park the city provides for RV visitors. You can stay for three days and donate if you want. The nearby trains make you feel like you might be run over at night....but didn't really bother us too much.

I took a picture of this little guy sitting on a post outside our RV.
It was looking for some goodies.

The main street downtown.

Mary, Calvin and Mel. Mary and I have lots of interests and fun with our computers. (June 2007 she just emailed me this movie clip of their property...Take a peek). Mary spent many years doing the family history, and has so many interesting pictures and stories. Her mother drew the following picture of her childhood school bus and wrote about the experience of it below.

It was fun having lunch with sisters Margie, Pauline and Kathy
at Vimbo's. The cuisine is great.

The sun was setting, and the moon rising when we headed for Cheyenne. We parked for the night near a Flying J truck stop not far from town. The next morning we were pleasantly surprised to see these antelope between the truck stop and the freeway.

This doe strayed a from the rest, and the buck quickly made her go back.

The idea was to find the place where the party was to take place and then find an RV park to spend the night.

That's the Kiwanis Community House ahead. Lions Park is lovely.

Across the street (opposite the other side of the park) is the museum we visited with Ray and Idonna in 2002. It still has the horse and buggy we had our pictures taken in below, complete with horse whinny and clop clop clop sound affects. The lady at the reception desk helped us find an RV park for the night.

We're looking forward to the surprise party honoring them tonight.
