Modern Day Highwaymen

 

I wrote this for Judy's newsletter in 1993, because it was just another  incident that convinced us to eventually quit the trucking business we'd been in for about 43 years. More investigations revealed we weren't the only ones who felt the same way. As Mel once put it, "No one knows what's happening to people, because they're being knocked off one at a time in various industries. They write about it in specific trade magazines, Truckers, Timber operators, Farmers, Wholesales, Retailers etc., but no one knows that it's happening to  others beyond their own trade." War being waged against small businesses. Kirk sold cars for awhile, but eventually became a building contractor.
