Hay Ride In December
(12/6/05)
You've probably noticed the
large, bald place above Idaho Maryland Road that's visible from
the freeway and hospital. It belongs to Margie and Tim who hope to
build their new RV sales lot on it. Yesterday Tim invited family,
planners, complainers, neighboring businesses and friends on a
hay-ride to tour the site.
I took this picture of the old access
bridge to the site (off
Idaho Maryland Road) during April 2004. It was replaced
this year.
This is the building site, and plans below.
During the tour, the
complainer mentioned that too much roof would be visible. One of the
officials advised him that the area was zoned commercial. An email
was circulated by the opposition trying to stir
up controversy against the improvements it called...."a large
eyesore...building and parking lot, for the purpose of selling gas
guzzling monster RVs to rich people from out of the area." These
people know (from earlier meetings) that DeMartini's sales bring in
much sales tax revenue per month to the State, and the city of Grass
Valley. Not only that, Tim employs many people. It's interesting
that he bought the property, and built the store in Indiana after he
acquired this local property. The expensive delays have been due to
business unfriendly, (envious?) people who talk about local
infrastructure needs, but think money grows on trees rather than
coming from risk-taking, enterprising, hard working people.
View from site
towards the freeway, hospital........and Weavers new facility under
construction. If all goes well, they'll have more room and their
employees a better, less crowded place to work. By-the-way....the
hay ride was a fun way to take care of business. However, it's now
November 2006 and now some official feels that the new bridge is too
narrow (even though it was approved before).
Epilogue
( February 4, 2007)
New view of the bald hill. The DeMartini site
on the left is just beginning construction of the new building
cement slab. To the right is the new Hills Flat Lumber building
nearing completion. Weaver's new completed auto sales is in the
foreground by the freeway. Construction on it began a couple of
years ago.
Now you know
what that bald
spot is going to
be....
