Many years ago our
step-father Val saved his dog Mike from an early death. The dog had a
grapefruit sized tumor on his neck. He wouldn't eat anything but
buttermilk, and grew so thin and weak he couldn't stand up. The Vet
surmised the dog had cancer, and would die.
Val wanted to help Mike, but wasn't sure
about what to do. Then he remembered the experience of a nurse he'd
sold vegetables to. She told him that her mother had developed a
terrible sore on her leg that wouldn't heal. Normal remedies didn't
work, so the nurse decided to try using the herb "comfrey" on it. She
put the leaves and some water in a blender to produce the dark green
liquid she then painted on the sore. Over this she placed a soft
bandage, and repeated the process every day. Within a short period the
leg healed.
Val decided he'd try the same thing on his
dog. He opened the tumor and painted the comfrey into the wound, and
added the herb to the dog's buttermilk.
We saw the tumor growing smaller until it
disappeared. Even better was how the dog looked. His hair became soft
and beautiful like a puppy. I'm not a doctor, and don't recommend
anyone trying this on themselves. However, what we experienced is
worth sharing.
My mother was always a believer in the
benefits of comfrey and loved to share her green cocktail (using
pineapple juice) with family and friends alike. One time she offered
our friend Mark a drink. He didn't want to offend her, so he accepted.
It tasted worse than it looked, so he swallowed it fast to get it over
with. She thought he liked it, and promptly refilled his glass. I must
say...he was a real gentleman.
While the thought of this dark green drink
still gives Mark the shivers, it does wonders for me when I'm not
feeling up to par. Even more comforting is to have actually witnessed
the almost miraculous affect it had on Val's dog.
