Taco Tuesday with the Hillbillies
(July 10, 2012)
Kirk, Deanna, Drew and Mason raved about it....So
this Tuesday we
decided to drive up the hill to see for ourselves.
"It" turned out to be tasty taco's and relaxing camaraderie with some of our
fellow hillbillies. 'Twas warm outside on the veranda, but
we found a table for two waiting for us inside. The two gals (Gretchen
and Kathryn) cooking the
tacos were pretty busy and funny. Some folks from Rough and Ready (at
the next table) heard about Taco Tuesday and were also trying it for the
first time. They enjoyed the tasty, smaller corn taco's so much that
they ordered a second helping. Cascade Shores General Store Cafe Taco Tuesday
specialty goes from 5 to 7:pm. The place is located at the 4-way
stop intersection of Banner Quaker Hill Rd. and Pasquale Road just a few
minutes from Scotts Flat Reservoir where we've swam, boated and fished
over the years. The store has a complete selection of food and snack
items including fresh milk and bread, beer (including micro-brews),
wine, ice cream, fresh coffee, and a few other other essentials.
They're even better tasting than they look. These are
the larger flour ones.
Old acquaintances Kim and Kevin showed up on their
motorcycle. So did grand-son Drew. This is his favorite Tuesday evening
place to eat.
It's easy to see why us
hillbillie's might like to hang out here on Tuesdays.
And so....Tuesday July
17
We decided to drop by for some taco's and maybe
see more old friends, or family. Kevin was here, but Kim was late
getting off work. Kirk, Deanna, Mason and eventually Drew showed up.
We were hoping they would.
The fun part of being a hillbillie is that you
never know who you might run into on the hill. This man with the red
bike reminds me of Erik the Red, the famous Viking who
discovered Greenland; a powerful man with fantastic red, curly hair
and beard who is also depicted wearing a helmet.
