Dr. Stacy Fore of Fore Dental Care

Robot Dentistry at The Fore in Grass Valley

I was pleasantly surprised to read about Dr. Fore's dental care in our local newspaper. Following my wonderful experience with her last year (2009), I'd thought about writing about it, but needed a nudge to do it, rather than just telling people what happened to me. I was eating a slice of pizza that was rather tough. Suddenly a tooth broke off. It was both devastating and funny to see the gaping hole in my smile when I looked in the mirror...so I called our dentist's office. After hearing what happened, the receptionist said I could come in the following day around 4:30 and it would probably take about an hour to fix. What? Anyone who has been to dentists knows that can't happen.

The next day, with my just in case broken tooth in my pocket, I arrived for my appointment. Dr. Fore examined the problem in my mouth digitally. On screen before my eyes, she literally fashioned a new tooth that would be like the missing one. Evidently it's called the CEREC 3D system (right) that makes images of your teeth using a specialized, high -precision camera. The computer then uses these images to design a custom restoration for you, matching the exact fit and shade of your natural teeth.

Then the milling unit makes your tooth while you wait. Dr. Fore invited me to watch it being made in the next room. Absolutely fascinating watching the water spraying on each side of the tiny ceramic block being milled. When it was finished, Dr. Fore then bonded the new creation onto the broken section still in my mouth, and the dental work was complete! The cost is about the same as the old way of doing things, but you don't need to make another appointment. Everything is finished in about two hours at the most. For me it was a total surprise, and a wonderful experience to be able to get it done so quickly. Those I've told were just a surprised as I was.
