Nevada County Meet The Candidates Forum

(Thursday April 1, 2010)

Thursday's candidates forum held at the Veteran's building in Grass Valley was co-sponsored by Nevada County Tea Party Patriots, KNCO and The Union Newspaper. The girls volunteered to set it up and decorate. We decided to go and listen to what those we'll be voting for had to say. There was a $5.00 donation at the door, and after expenses that included rent for the hall, insurance and permits, whatever was left over was divided equally among the five Veterans' groups listed on the program.

The moderators for the event were Bob Breck, General Manager of KNCO radio station, and Jeff Ackerman Editor-Publisher of The Union Newspaper. The candidates were given an opportunity to make an opening statement followed by a question and answer session.

We're seated in the balcony visible on the left in the back of the auditorium.

Auditor-Controller Marcia Salter.

County clerk-recorder candidates Barry Pruett, left, and Gregory Diaz.

My favorite political cartoonist Bob Crabb's no doubt contemplating his next masterpiece.

A final break before the Treasurer-Tax Collector candidates conclude this evenings interesting event. I've attended candidate's forum's in the past, and this one was  an informative introduction to those running for public office; a glimpse of their qualifications. Many thanks to all those who put it together.
